00:00 - Paul Adams (Host)
Hey everybody, my name is Paul Adams, I'm founder CEO of Sound Financial Group, I'm the host of the Sound Financial Group podcast and I'm sharing with you this trailer of our new podcast, book Known Speakers, so you can understand how this podcast is gonna help you book known speakers for your next event. Now, before we get into the podcast, I thought it might be helpful for me to share a little bit about myself and what brought me to the point of setting up this podcast. You see, I've owned a financial advising firm for 25 years and in that time I've been to countless numbers of conferences and I've had the opportunity to hear great speakers. And I've had the opportunity to hear speakers that the only notes I took were what I shouldn't do if I'm in front of that room, but I always took something away. And after talking to a couple of conference organizers about some of the speakers, especially the ones that didn't do so great, I constantly heard things like you know, the video clips the agent sent us were great, or I had heard some good reviews, but we never really had a chance, before booking them, to see them perform on their feet in a live situation. And so, at 25 years of financial conferences and motivational speakers behind me. I thought I could set up a podcast where I get a chance to interview those speakers for you, with you, so that you have a better chance to get to know them before you put them in front of your people at your conference, at your training, your responsibilities, training, developing and bringing the narratives into your organization and bringing the greatest amount of value, and we want that to be a success every single time. So let me share with you a little bit about how we set up the format of the show to really make sure you're getting the opportunity, with every episode you listen to, to further vet the speaker for your next event.
01:52
You see, one of the things we hear is that sometimes these speakers can be difficult to coordinate with, especially if you're not up at that quarter million dollar engagement range. They also need to be managed just in order to get them all the materials that you need to be able to publicize the event. So one of the things we've done to make sure that each of these speakers has a disciplined operational backend is each speaker only gets one email from us to do everything that's necessary to get on the podcast, upload their head shot, get their bio in, list out their social medias, everything else that needs to happen, up to and including them agreeing to post the show on their social media after. So that gives you an extra chance to be able to further vet them, as you can see if they posted their show to their social media. If they didn't, that might be a good indicator that they were unsatisfied with their performance on the show, and you may want to count that as something that perhaps you don't want them in front of your audience if that's the case. So, first off, if they're on the show, they've been able to operationally coordinate quite well, because I don't have time to manage any of these speakers and I don't think you do either. Second, we're asking them to submit three clips for each episode. Each of those three clips are going to be clips from them speaking publicly and then having a discussion with me after about what was produced for the audience when you did that. What's your aim when you use something like that? We're going to be asking them what kind of audiences they speak to and the results that they have been able to deliver to those audiences on a consistent and predictable basis, so that you can see if they're a good fit for your organization and the aims that you guys are after right now.
03:36
Now, as you tune into this, you might be asking who's this podcast for? Well, our intention is to make this podcast for anyone who has a significant consequence if a speaker goes well or a speaker doesn't go well. So you might work for a large conferencing company that's making these recommendations to large corporations when they do their events. You might work for a major corporation and you're worried about the training and development of your people and bringing in high quality and or motivational speakers to bring value to that large audience. When you bring your entire company together, we don't know how large your event's going to be. It might be 40 highly consequential people within your organization, or it might be 4,000 people bringing your entire organization together. In either case, what we're doing is bringing on high quality speakers that you're going to get a chance to see how they speak to an audience and what they would say is important to them to deliver to an audience in a one-on-one, personal, unrehearsed conversation. We're also going to be taking three clips from some of their other public talks to have them talk about what those points tend to make in a large room so that you have a sense of the kinds of results that might occur in your organization after having one of these speakers come, because it's easy, you can find somebody who's entertaining and they will entertain your organization for a time.
05:02
But what we want to do other than entertain people for a time, when we book a speaker, we want to empower them and give them a tool set that hopefully they keep for a lifetime, getting a chance to be impacted by the event that you were a part of organizing. So each episode is going to be about 30 minutes. In that episode you're going to find out a little bit about the speaker's background. You're going to find out a little bit about their motivation for why they're doing what they're doing. You'll learn what kind of groups they tend to have the greatest amount of impact with and you're going to know a little bit of their speaking as we review those three clips and get a chance to get some of their insight about what happens to the room when they hit those critical points of the keynotes that they've delivered in the past, so that you know when somebody leaves the event that you're responsible for organizing. They've not been motivated for a day. They've been empowered for a lifetime.
06:02
As a result of the work that you did behind the scenes that nobody else knows, some of the people in your organization's lives will be forever changed because you took the time to research these speakers ahead of time. In fact, you took the time to make sure you only book known speakers. So we're going to drop a new episode every Monday, giving you a chance to have a whole week to be able to take that one in. They're only going to be 30 minutes, but I do have three big asks for you. One, it means the world to me. If you subscribe, that's going to make sure that you get all of the latest episodes.
